Canvas Prints for the Kitchen: Introduction
Wall art isn’t just for living rooms and bedrooms – it can do wonders for your kitchen decor scheme too. And canvas prints can be the perfect choice here, provided the conditions are right.
The fact is that your kitchen is a more humid environment than most of the other rooms in your home, and this can affect the longevity of certain decor features.
Canvas is one of the toughest, hardest-wearing fabrics around – but it’s a fabric nonetheless, which means it’s prone to absorbing moisture from the air. If you want your canvas print to stay in great condition, you need to bear this in mind.
Displaying Canvas Prints in the Kitchen Safely
How much use does your kitchen get? If you only use it to make yourself coffee in the morning and grab a sandwich for lunch, you won’t need to worry too much about the long-term performance of your canvas prints. Just make sure they’re not hung right above the kettle and all should be well!
But if your kitchen gets regular, heavy use for cooking, the resulting humidity could cause problems in the long run. In this case it makes sense to give your canvas prints some extra protection. Here’s what you can do:
Display wall art a fair distance away from sources of steam: ovens, hobs, sinks, etc
Air the room regularly, especially after cooking sessions
Consider laminating the print surface if your kitchen gets particularly heavy use
Take these precautions and you should be able to enjoy the beauty of kitchen canvas art for many years.
However, if your kitchen does get very steamy on a regular basis and you want to play it extra safe, you might want to consider investing in another wall decor format. We discuss the alternatives to canvas below.
3 Alternative Wall Art Formats
If your kitchen sees long hours of cooking every day, you might want to make resistance to humidity your first priority when choosing your wall art.
Here at CANVASDISCOUNT we offer a range of formats which are suitable even for the busiest kitchens. Our most hard-wearing wall art formats include:
Metal prints. Unlike porous canvas prints, metal prints offer superb resistance to humidity. Made from a sleek aluminum composite panel, you can display them in your kitchen with complete confidence
Acrylic prints. Another print format made from a non-porous material. Acrylic glass is extra strong and won’t absorb water or odors.
Framed photos. These classically styled prints are displayed behind an acrylic glass cover that ensures excellent protection against humidity and splashes.
CANVASDISCOUNT sells all these products for only slightly more than our canvas prints – and each one performs superbly even in high-moisture environments.
