The 8x8 Hardcover Photo Album, Built on Real Photo Paper
This is the square format at its best: photographic paper, layflat spreads, and a rigid printed cover protecting the whole thing. Pages are produced on genuine photographic paper, the same class of material used for individual photo prints, rather than digitally printed onto book stock. The difference shows in dark tones and gradients, where digital printing has to work harder: skies, shadows, skin, anything with a subtle transition.
The square shape has a specific advantage for portraiture. A square page gives a standing subject room above and below without the empty side margins a portrait page creates, and two square pages open into a wide panorama when you want one.
