What are Custom Mugs?

Are the photo mugs dishwasher and microwave safe?

Our classic mugs (including the Design Template versions) can be used safely in both dishwasher and microwave. We recommend washing the magic mug by hand to preserve the heat-sensitive layer for as long as possible.

How to choose the right photo for a photo mug?

For best results, we recommend clear, high-resolution images with simple compositions and bright colors. Minimal backgrounds and sharp details will help your image look crisp when wrapped around the curved surface.

What photo mug sizes are available?

All our photo mugs come in the same size: 3¾'' tall with a 3'' diameter. The volume is 11oz.

What’s the difference between a magic mug and a classic photo mug?

All our photo mugs are made from premium ceramic and custom printed with your chosen image. But the magic mugs are coated with a special thermochromic (heat-sensitive) layer, so at room temperature they appear plain black. Pouring in a hot drink activates the heat-change process and the black coating peels back to reveal your photo print. This effect can be repeated limitless times.

How many design templates are available for the photo mugs?

If you choose the version of our Classic Mug with Design Templates, you’ll be able to choose from many dozens of creative collage ideas. Note that you can also create a multi-image design from scratch: just tap Design your own collage underneath the list of templates.

What kind of image file do I need to upload?

You can upload image files in the following formats: .jpg (or .jpeg), .png, .gif, and .webp. Remember that the higher the resolution of your photo, the crisper your print reproduction will be. Ideally the shortest side of your image will be more than 2000 pixels.

How many photos can I get printed on a photo mug?

If you want your custom mug to feature multiple photos, select the Classic Mug with Design Templates option. To help you find the right template for your pictures, you can filter the list by the number of photos featured. And you can always add another photo field yourself when you reach the product design page. So really there’s no upper limit!

How long does it take to make a custom mug?

If you order your custom mug here at CANVASDISCOUNT, expect production to take 1-4 business days and shipping to take an additional 1-4 business days. That’s a total delivery time of 2-8 business days from order completion.

How long does shipping take, and what are the delivery options?

Shipping to the contiguous United States takes 1-4 business days (i.e. Monday-Friday). Unfortunately we can’t offer expedited delivery at this time.

Can I send a custom mug as a gift?

Certainly you can! We’ll deliver your custom mug order to any US address you provide at checkout, so your unique item will arrive at the giftee’s door in just a few days, free of branding.
