What a Photo Album Book Is
A photo album book is a printed book of your own photographs, bound rather than slotted into sleeves. The pictures are printed directly onto the page, so a photograph can run across a full spread instead of sitting inside a plastic pocket.
That is the practical difference from a traditional album. A traditional album holds prints; a photo album book is the prints. Nothing falls out, nothing yellows in a sleeve, and the layout is yours rather than fixed by the pocket size.
How many pages
From 14 in a booklet up to 200 in a softcover. 40 to 80 pages is a comfortable length for a year of photographs.
Digital print or real photographic paper
Digital print is 170 g/m² matte. Real photographic paper is matte 164 g/m² or glossy 171 g/m², and adds layflat binding, so a photograph can cross the fold unbroken.
Choosing a size
6x8 fits a bag, 8x8 suits square photos, and 8x11 gives the largest page and the most photos per spread.
